Beyond tax revenue, host communities share directly in this economic growth through substantial workforce development. The construction of a data centre campus anchors the local economy, providing thousands of skilled tradespeople with steady, multi-year employment. Looking beyond construction, once operational, data centre facilities create permanent roles across IT, specialised maintenance and security. This daily workforce acts as an economic multiplier, driving sustained revenue and secondary job growth in local retail, food service and hospitality. Rapid industry growth demands a rapidly expanding workforce.
To meet this challenge head-on and build the next generation of talent, Aligned recently established the Aligned Academy, a localised training programme designed to train host-community talent for highpaying roles across the data centre sector.“ We like to go the extra mile in community involvement,” Andrew says.“ So, we do sponsor quite a few things in the community to really assist with the community’ s needs.” Andrew highlights that this includes everything from sponsoring and assisting with different events that are happening in the community, to critical local infrastructure investments, including upgrades to water, power and roadways.“ Because we don’ t just build in a community; we live, work and invest in it,” he says.
