A ndrew Schaap’ s path to leading one of the world’ s fastest-growing digital infrastructure platforms began far away from the US major tech hubs.“ I was born and raised in the Midwest. I like to say that I was born between two cornfields,” Andrew says. That grounded origin formed the backdrop for an ambitious educational trajectory, taking him from Cornerstone University in Michigan through elite executive programmes in strategy, negotiation and business execution at Harvard Business School, and eventually to CEO of Aligned Data Centers.
Now he has been in the digital infrastructure space for 25 years, working with several different businesses in the sector.“ I have done a couple of private projects, private businesses, and then did more than 11 years at a publicly traded, large-scale data centre operator,” he explains. He joined Aligned Data Centers in 2017.“ When I came over, I had a general thesis: bring in thoughtful, well-capitalised backing, coupled with innovation and technology – zero water use for operational cooling, great power usage effectiveness, all while staying ahead of the curve.”
