Inside Aurora: how Kimberly-Clark united 165 countries on one AI-powered platform – and freed its people to focus on strategic, higher-value work

For Dawn Fritzell, Director of Global Procurement Digital Transformation at Kimberly- Clark, the idea came long before the technology did.“ I spent 30 years here dreaming about a global process and global tools for procurement,” she says. For most of that career, finance at Kimberly-Clark operated on standardised, rigorous, company-wide processes.

“ As I moved into procurement with an appreciation for a specific set of process and controls,” Dawn says,“ I discovered that we had an opportunity in procurement to apply a similar approach that I experienced in the finance function.”
That opportunity became Aurora, Kimberly-Clark’ s company-wide digital transformation programme spanning supply chain, finance and procurement workflows. The latter was built around a single global instance of Coupa.
The numbers, Kimberly-Clark’ s leaders are quick to point out, are only part of the story. Behind every purchase order and every supplier invoice sits a product that shows up in someone’ s home: a box of Kleenex, a package of Huggies, a roll of Cottonelle.
