That transparency now extends into finance as well.“ The finance community loves having one platform where they can see real-time information from around the world,” he adds.
Getting there took discipline and a willingness to listen. Suresh Sundaram, Director, Aurora Global Deployment at Kimberly-Clark, says one of the biggest lessons of the rollout was resisting the urge to design from the top down.“ One big learning is going to the local business user community and understanding their processes, instead of setting up something at a high level,” Suresh says.“ Talking to the people who are in the process day in and day out, having them in the room, and providing the solution for them, that’ s something we learned.”
Kimberly-Clark brought in KPMG to support this global Source-to-Pay transformation. Asking an entire global organisation to adopt one process was never going to be simple.
“ It is a hard sell to go and tell our people that you have to use one process across the globe, when there are geographical differences, cultural differences, and legal and regulatory differences,” Suresh admits.
Even so, adoption came fast: 80 % of users logged into the new system and completed a transaction within the first week of go-live.
