TRUSS DATA CENTERS St. Louis also demonstrates TRUSS’ focus on second cities.
“ St. Louis is exactly the kind of market we love,” Jon says.“ Strong fibre routes, available utility power, an industrial building culture and none of the scarcity pricing you see on the coasts. Our customers don’ t need their training clusters in Northern Virginia. They need them powered, cooled and live this quarter.”
TRUSS is now extending the model into Houston and evaluating further capacity in Dallas-Fort Worth. The company’ s Houston facility began with 1MW in 2006 and gained another megawatt in 2008. The site now carries a 20MW allocation that TRUSS is engineering around.
“ Texas is the obvious next chapter for us,” says Jon.“ The grid, the land, the attitude are all very favourable.
“ The sites we’ re securing there fit the template: 14MW or more already connected, with utility programmes in motion to take them to 28MW.
“ The plan is a portfolio of TRUSS facilities across the central US, each one following the same playbook: find the power, respect the engineering, move faster than anyone else.”
Rebuilding old halls for AI The Houston site illustrates the extent of the retrofit required. TRUSS’ first customer needs 140kW per rack across 84 racks, while the building’ s existing cooling infrastructure dates from 2007.
“ This unit was installed in 2007, and will be gone by January,” Jon says.“ We need a new cooling loop, chillers and a roofing system.”
