on Eaves, CRO of TRUSS Data Centers, used to keep Sundays for administration. Now his customers use the day to email him. Messages arrive demanding more capacity for the first quarter, and he spends the rest of his Sunday hunting for buildings across America.“ There isn’ t a day that goes past where I’ m not asked for double-digit megawatts of power,” he says.“ I haven’ t reached Christmas Day yet, but I expect I will be, even then.”
Buyers are reserving space they may not use simply to hold it.“ It’ s a market I’ ve never seen, where people buy off the plan,” Jon says.“ It’ s like apartments in London, bought before the earth is even turned.”
That scramble sits on top of an industry-wide bottleneck. In 2026, the binding constraint is power. Interconnection queues stretch years into the future while hyperscale campuses announced with fanfare may not energise until the end of the decade.
AI companies, meanwhile, raise capital in weeks and take delivery of GPUs in months. Every day a cluster sits in a warehouse rather than a rack is a day of burn without a return.
