THE SUSTAINABILITY INTERVIEW

“ The core question is how can we make sure that people can live on this planet in peace, security and prosperity”

Eva Riesenhuber Global Head of Sustainability Siemens
Siemens has introduced biodiversity initiatives, ranging from habitat protection to species-specific programmes, across more than half of its global sites.
“ In India, for example, we have a snake conservation programme at our factory in Kalwa,” Eva shares.“ We also have a rainforest that we’ re protecting at our Brazil site and we’ re keeping a lot of bees in Germany – I have a jar of the SieBees’ honey in my kitchen! We have implemented a biodiversity strategy in more than 50 % of all our sites and we have a target of 100 % implementation until 2030.”
Supply chain decarbonisation is another major challenge, as Siemens works with over 65,000 suppliers globally. The company focuses on education, transparency, practical solutions and supporting suppliers in understanding emissions and identifying cost-effective reduction measures.
