THE SUSTAINABILITY INTERVIEW
This allows existing infrastructure to handle greater demand without new construction. This is a foundational element for the energy transition, as it is needed to integrate renewable energy into the grid and support electrification of production and processes.
Elevating the social dimension of sustainability While decarbonisation often dominates sustainability discussions, Siemens places equal emphasis on social impact.
“ I would actually argue that the social side is the most important of all three of them,” Eva says.“ Because ultimately, when we look at how we can manage society within the limits of planetary boundaries, the core question is how can we make sure that people can live on this planet in peace, security and prosperity? That is the ultimate question that we’ re trying to solve, because the planet can survive without people – but people cannot survive without the planet.”
Siemens’ social ambition encompasses people wellbeing, inclusion, equity, learning and broader societal impact.
