Eva Riesenhuber Global Head of
Sustainability Siemens
Siemens uses its own technologies internally to demonstrate feasibility and help to build credibility with customers.
Beyond internal operations, Siemens focuses on enabling customer impact at scale – to make them more competitive, more resilient, and more sustainable. For example, Siemens is targeting over 1,000 megatons – one gigaton – of customer avoided emissions through its portfolio at its customers by 2030. That’ s 1.5x Germany’ s annual CO₂ emissions. By enabling customers to avoid emissions on this scale, Siemens can drive impact far beyond its own environmental footprint.
Executing sustainability globally Operating in more than 170 countries presents significant execution challenges – while strategy is centralised, implementation must be tailored to local conditions.
“ We’ re aligned behind one purpose and all moving in the same direction, but having the same direction, strategy and purpose doesn’ t mean that it’ s the same solution everywhere,” Eva explains.
Biodiversity provides a clear example of this complexity – different regions require different approaches based on ecosystems and environmental priorities.
