embedding them across its client and internal operations.
This means building the company’ s own AI-driven products using large language models, particularly in finance and supply chain functions.
Genpact intends to deploy these tools not only as products sold to clients, but within its own operations too, he says.
Central to this shift is what he calls the“ four debts” facing manufacturers: data, process, technology and talent. Clean, accessible data remains essential for effective AI deployment, he says, though newer models cope better with messy or unstructured information than earlier technologies did. On talent, he identifies two distinct gaps: helping existing staff use AI as“ practitioners”, and finding specialist engineers able to build AI systems from scratch, whom he calls“ AI builders”.
“ Every individual should know how to use AI as a complement to their daily job,” he says.“ If you don’ t know how to use AI, AI being there is of no use.”
This growth in AI literacy will help companies around the world move from experimentation to execution.
“ AI is great on pilots, proofs of concept and small projects,” he says.“ But can you get to real scale in a cost-effective manner? That will define success.” For Diwakar, the people and companies that will stand tallest in the shake-up will be those that are most committed and most hardworking. To illustrate this, he looks back on a piece of advice he received in his early career.
“ If you are average in terms of intellectual capability, what differentiates you is how hard you work,” he says.“ There is no shortcut to success – you have to earn your bread every day.”
