“ It’ s like a calculator in

1980 – you need to use AI to stay relevant”

Ivan Shchukin Head of Data Warehouse
Plata maintain and upgrade their own physical servers – Snowflake operates entirely in the cloud and scales automatically according to demand.
For a company growing as quickly as Plata and preparing to enter new geographic markets, that elasticity matters. Ivan notes:“ Snowflake removed a lot of pain for us. We can scale to a new country or a new domain in minutes, not months. That’ s incredible.”
Ivan goes on to frame the question of partnerships in terms that go beyond technical convenience. A good technology partner, in his view, should share the same values and long-term direction as the company it serves. He is blunt about the stakes involved in getting that relationship wrong.
Ivan explains:“ A partner for a company is like a partner in life – your business must be aligned with the same core values and goals. If you have a good partner, you will have good business.”
AI adoption as a baseline expectation Looking at the 12 months ahead, Ivan has three clear priorities: geographic expansion of the data warehouse into at least one new country, the launch of the internal IDE and a significant increase in the proportion of staff using AI tools on a daily basis. Currently, around 60 % of the data warehouse team incorporates AI into their daily work. Ivan wants that figure at 100 % – and soon.
He concludes:“ AI is like a calculator in 1980. You just need to use it to be relevant – it’ s not optional any more.”
