PSCI Chair Lucy Latham on harnessing collective industry action to advance decarbonisation, shared auditing & supply chain resilience in pharmaceuticals

PSCI was founded in 2006 by six companies with a collective goal of tackling sustainable supply chains together rather than alone. Today, the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative has 85 member companies, representing US $ 1.3trn in revenue and reaching at least 25 % of all suppliers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare supply network, as well as manufacturing and delivering approximately 80 % of licensed medicines.

Lucy Latham is the Global Head of Procurement, ESG for Sandoz and the Chair of the Board for the PSCI. In her Board role, Lucy brings collective industry voices together to turn ambition into practical action across complex global supply chains. Lucy explains that what she values most about her role at PSCI is the scale of its influence and the opportunity to drive meaningful industry-wide progress.
“ What makes PSCI most powerful is that it’ s more than one company acting alone,” says Lucy.“ And uniquely, we aren’ t competing. In procurement, you’ re usually working towards a mutually beneficial outcome, but inevitably there are trade-offs between both parties. At PSCI, our interests are aligned – we’ re all trying to achieve the same thing together and for the greater good.”
