Through a string of acquisitions and its in-house laser technology, Resonetics is transforming into a single manufacturing partner for medtech innovators
Most patients will never hear the name Resonetics. Yet the US company makes some of the smallest and most precise components inside modern medical devices, from catheters to implantable stimulators.
Resonetics is a contract development and manufacturing organisation( CDMO). That means it designs and builds components and finished devices on behalf of medical technology companies, which then sell them under their own brands.
Over the past year, the company has used a rapid series of acquisitions to widen what it can offer those customers. Its stated aim is to become an end-toend partner, taking a device from first prototype to high-volume production.
Behind that strategy sits a technology story. It spans proprietary laser systems, advanced materials, sensing and power, and a growing focus on automation and factory data.
Built on light Resonetics was founded in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1987 as a laser systems integration company. It later turned to medical device manufacturing, but lasers remain at the heart of the business.
