Q. DISCUSS THAI UNION’ S SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

» This year, we are recognising 10 years of the launch of our sustainability programme SeaChange.

In 2016, there was a bright spotlight on the seafood sector. At that moment in time, we took a long, hard look at ourselves and the way we were operating, in places that we were sourcing from, and we recognised that there was an urgent need to improve.
Traceability is at the backbone of our sustainability plan, and from there, we started to build a blueprint. We were the first ones in the industry to move; we worked with a lot of NGOs, CSOs and academic partners to make sure that we are delivering impact below the waterline( planet) and above the waterline( people).
Q. WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF SUSTAINABILITY WITHIN THE SEAFOOD INDUSTRY?

» Without healthy oceans, there is no seafood. We are reliant on a natural resource. Taking care of that resource is the right thing to do environmentally, socially and financially.
