Securing 34 locations
As a SaaS-based platform, ThreatLocker allowed TLG Peterbilt to deploy a single script across all 34 of its locations.
Individualised subgroups and pre-written policies were created for each site, tightening control over how the estate was managed. Storage control addressed a specific pain point around external media, as Peter highlights:“ We were able to get granular, rather than using a basic GPO policy that’ s all-or-nothing on what’ s plugged in. It gave far more control over removable media.” Some TLG Peterbilt mechanics also needed admin-level credentials to run certain software, creating a separate risk.
“ We used our elevation control to raise the rights of that specific application – without ever giving end users admin credentials,” says Peter.“ It let engineers run the software they needed.”
The value of Zero Trust
At the time of deployment, TLG Peterbilt’ s IT team was relatively small, making manual software cataloguing a cumbersome task before ThreatLocker’ s arrival.“ Adding that extra layer of proactive security gave them peace of mind,” adds Peter.“ They weren’ t just hoping their EDR and MDR would catch everything.” Combined with ThreatLocker’ s EDR and MDR tools, the allowlisting and ringfencing approach significantly narrows the attack surface.“ There’ s no silver bullet in cybersecurity,” Peter concludes.“ But we’ re helping TLG Peterbilt get as close as possible.”
