‘ Connecting communities’ recognises the essential role public transport plays in enabling people to access education, employment and healthcare opportunities, particularly for those without access to private cars.
This includes social value initiatives like the JAM( Just A Minute) card for people with autism or learning difficulties, which signals to staff that the person needs a little extra time and assistance. The card was co-designed by participants of the Now Group, a leading Northern Ireland Social Enterprise.
“ Service users can present the card to our drivers, conductors or counter staff and say,‘ I just need a minute to understand. Can you help me?’,” explains Mark.“ It’ s made public transport more inclusive for people with neurodiverse conditions who maybe wouldn’ t have considered it a viable option.”
Decarbonising public transport through procurement Procurement plays a crucial role in Translink’ s efforts to decarbonise public transport.
