Aligned’ s Advanced Cooling Lab in Phoenix is established, the focus shifts to intentional facility design. He emphasises that infrastructure must be engineered thoughtfully- rather than just optimising for the lowest cost per square foot or kilowatt. The ultimate priority is“ actually what makes Aligned a good neighbour.”
Going the extra mile Long before water usage became a focal point for the broader industry, Aligned built its operational framework around zero-water operational cooling.“ I can happily say that since 2017, we have been using closed-loop designs,” he says.“ We fill up the pipes with deionised water. That same water then circulates continuously within the loop. We are not drawing more water from the municipal water supply to cool our workloads.”
Unlike conventional manufacturing or logistics hubs, Aligned’ s data centres operate as clean, quiet and highly secure neighbours- generating substantial tax revenue for local schools and municipal services without the wear and tear typically associated with heavy industry.
“ The tax base is one,” Andrew says.“ When communities recognise the tax base that comes out of a data centre, they really understand that it is a game-changer for some of these towns, local municipalities and local governments. They see that.”
