She points to repetitive decision workflows as the area with the greatest potential, arguing that nearly every company – whatever its industry – carries tens of thousands of them. Finance functions in particular are rich with tasks suited to automation.
Kristin expands:“ A common question is,‘ What’ s the balance in my bank account?’ A very simple question that can be automated with AI.”
She is equally drawn to graph capability, a technique that uses neural networks( AI systems loosely modelled on the brain) and large language models( LLMs) to surface relationships in data that are not obvious to people.
“ I think that’ s really going to be a new competitive advantage, because it’ s non-obvious, meaning the human’ s not noticing it,” asserts Kristin.“ We are able to generate new insights with the technology that would just look like noise if a human was looking at it plainly.”
This, she believes, applies well beyond financial services, offering a competitive edge to any organisation sitting on large volumes of underused
