Some of the work, he says, involves putting the fundamentals in place:“ 30 % to 40 % of it is basic fixing, standard fixing and governance fixing. Those are things which are basic procurement characteristics that we need to have at pace, and the rest is the acceleration.”
Crucially, the programme is also moving faster than originally planned. Lyvio says 40 % of the priority projects are now being delivered ahead of the timelines set out in the original roadmap at the time of writing.
Strategic digitalisation Among the key priorities in Lyvio’ s bulging in-tray after taking the reins of Opella’ s procurement Centre of Excellence was selecting the right technology partners to help both business stakeholders and his procurement team flourish in its new environment. When he joined Sanofi ahead of the spin-out,“ there were already great technologies implemented,” he explains.“ The thing is that they were not fully synchronised.”
With strong foundations already in place, the selection process was therefore less about starting from scratch and more about surfacing the gaps.
“ The selection process was more about where we want to go and why and what is needed to make it work, rather than trying to revolutionise or change the entire landscape,” says Lyvio.
