PSCI
Mobilising supply chain decarbonisation Decarbonisation is an area Lucy is particularly passionate about:“ In pharmaceuticals, as much as 95 % of a company’ s carbon footprint can sit within the supply chain. It’ s a complex challenge where no company can achieve net zero alone. The only way we will deliver change at this scale is by working together, and that’ s where the collective power of PSCI really comes into its own.”
“ Decarbonisation isn’ t something any one function can own. Everyone has a role to play, from R & D teams making decisions about the design of medicines, through to material choices, logistics networks and supplier operations,” Lucy explains,“ but procurement sits at the intersection of many of those decisions and at the interface with the supply base. That creates a unique opportunity to influence both what organisations buy and how they buy it, helping to translate decarbonisation ambitions into tangible action across the value chain.”
PSCI’ s role is to bring that collective action to life.“ We have unparalleled access to suppliers and the wider supply network. Last year we ran our first Decarbonisation Summit, attracting 1,400 participants from 800 companies; it’ s the highest level of engagement we’ ve seen. Ten CPOs from major companies spoke to affirm the importance of these topics in their businesses.”
“ The focus wasn’ t just on theory. It was about bringing together expertise from across PSCI, understanding
where organisations are on their decarbonisation journeys and providing practical solutions that can help them move forward.”
Lucy points to PSCI’ s Decarbonisation Topic Team as an example of that commitment in action.
“ The team is led by people who are deeply committed to creating a measurable impact. We have a clear vision for where the sector needs to go, but more importantly we’ re turning that vision into practical tools, capabilities and solutions that help members and suppliers deliver real progress. I’ m incredibly proud of what we’ re achieving together.”
