PSCI
Helping companies, big or small, on their decarbonisation journey There is no silver bullet for pharmaceutical decarbonisation; achieving meaningful progress requires sustained effort and significant investment. PSCI recognises that different sites and different suppliers need different interventions on their journey.
Having already mentioned maturity models and learning plans, Lucy explains that“ these are key because they’ re adapted depending on the supplier size and maturity.”
Last year, PSCI ran a‘ Supplier Decarbonisation Helpdesk’. This provided expert assistance to smaller suppliers, who could reach out and understand more about what they needed to do to decarbonise and set science-based targets, and how to overcome internal barriers. By funding this from PSCI member fees, it was available to suppliers for free.“ It’ s really important for us that we also support those smaller suppliers that are in different markets,” says Lucy.
Advancing the mission with strategic partnerships Fundamental to how PSCI operates, the non-profit works towards a common vision alongside its 85 Member companies and 30 Supplier Partners. Lucy says:“ At the heart of our success are the people who contribute – from our Topic Team Leads and committee and Board members to individual contributors and our external partners. They all bring their time, expertise and different perspectives, united by a shared belief that we can do more good together than we can alone.
“ If they weren’ t there, we wouldn’ t exist. It’ s really critical that those member companies provide resources, people and expertise to contribute,” says Lucy,
“ There’ s something really quite magical about bringing people from different companies, functions and backgrounds together around that shared purpose. Everyone is giving something to make the collective stronger, and I think that’ s what makes PSCI so special.”
Supporting that network is the SLR team, which provides PSCI’ s Secretariat.“ SLR keep what is a complex global organisation running like a well-oiled machine and enables our members, Topic Teams, Committees and Board to focus their energy on where they can have the greatest impact.“ It’ s easy to focus on the visible outcomes, but there is an enormous amount happening behind the scenes to make them possible. The expertise, energy and commitment of our secretariat is fundamental to what PSCI achieves.”
Beyond that, PSCI has a number of specialist capabilities that complement its work.“ We don’ t pretend that we know everything. We’ ve got a lot of practical delivery expertise from the people that are doing the jobs day in, day out, but there’ s also a lot that
