VERTICE
Where procurement technology goes next Looking beyond Vertice, Eldar sees three major shifts already beginning. The first is the disappearance of the lines between procurement phases. Intake, sourcing, contracting and P2P have been sold as separate tools for decades, and context is progressively lost at each stage until practically none remains at the point of payment. Patience for this, he says, is wearing thin among finance and procurement teams.
The second is two-way information flow. Data today mainly runs downstream, with the contract informing the invoice, but Eldar sees real value in sending it back upstream.
If P2P shows that a vendor has been overbilling or that prices have drifted since signing, that should shape the next renewal.
The third is agents moving from spotting problems to fixing them. In AP, that means an agent that does not merely flag a discrepancy butdrafts the query to the vendor, holds the payment and chases the credit note, with the team deciding how much of that runs on its own.
“ The common thread is that procurement technology will be judged less on how efficient it makes teams, and more on what it actually delivers to the business. That’ s a far better standard to be held to.”
